Maupassant's The Hand

Illustration of Maupassant's short story The Hand. I'm not really that excited about what I ended up with but here it is. When I thought I was done, I didn't like it and I worked on it some more. I think I'd like to revisit this when i get some better ideas for content and composition.

The top-most image is the final. Mixed media on cardboard.

Tyler, this is really cool. I think that whatever you did when you decided to go back into it really helped - looks like you did a wash? It helped create a dark mood and really unified everything. One thing I think the piece could use would be just some highlights on the gun, and maybe other highlights elsewhere in the piece just to make them really pop. Keep up the good work, hope DC is treating you well!!!!!

Hey Tyler, I really like the final piece! The dark wash really helped. The right shoulder blends in a little with the wall, but a few highlights (like Cat said) should do the trick. Good job!

Thanks for the feedback!

Yeah, I added a wash...heavier in certain areas. I'll try adding some highlights again. I just didn't want to draw too much attention to the revolver.

Also, it's amazing how difficult it is to come up with a good holiday illustration idea. Mine's going to be late.
