HOW TO FEEL MISERABLE AS AN ARTIST
- Constantly compare yourself to other artists.
- Talk to your family about what you do and expect them to cheer you on.
- Base the success of your entire career on one project.
- Stick with what you know.
- Undervalue your expertise
- Let money dictate what you do.
- Bow to Societal Pressures.
- Only do work that your family would love.
- Do whatever the client/customer/gallery owner/patron/investor asks.
- Set unachievable/overwhelming goals. To be accomplished by tomorrow.

Ha ha! I so don't remember that. That's really funny
I kinda remember that, its a good stratagy though, thats what I'm gonna do.
I think it was Tamara de Lampicka.... but I really like her stuff... so I'm not sure.
Ya'll are funny! I just looked up her stuff (Tamara de Lampicka) and I really liked it! So I hope that's not who Brent was talking about.
tyler, I don't remember that either, that's hilarious. By the way, your portrait looks really cool cropped like it is in your profile.
haha! best of luck to you matt!
Well, I e-mailed Brent but haven't gotten a response yet. I'll let you know if and when he responds.
I talked with Brent tonight.... It is Tamara de Lampicka. He also reaffirmed that her paintings have clearly influenced Gary Kelley's work. I really like her paintings and it sounds like some of you do too.
Here's a gallery of her work
