HOW TO FEEL MISERABLE AS AN ARTIST
- Constantly compare yourself to other artists.
- Talk to your family about what you do and expect them to cheer you on.
- Base the success of your entire career on one project.
- Stick with what you know.
- Undervalue your expertise
- Let money dictate what you do.
- Bow to Societal Pressures.
- Only do work that your family would love.
- Do whatever the client/customer/gallery owner/patron/investor asks.
- Set unachievable/overwhelming goals. To be accomplished by tomorrow.

Looks great! I think my only criticism would be that the value of the lower-left section is too close to the value of the figure. That might be why the raised hand seems to me to blend in a little too much with it. Maybe making that section darker will fix it.
Hey Tyler,
Thanks for the comment. I totally agree with you on the value. When I turn this one into a giclee I'm definitely going to darken that whole section. I was also thinking about buying a bunch of small, dark buttons to create a kind of pattern on that bottom section so the hand stands out more...we'll see.
weird... I could have sworn I commented on this a long time ago but I don't seem my comment. I think I said something about how I liked it, obviously, and I asked if any of these pieces have a deeper meaning. You don't have to share, I guess part of the experience as the viewer is to wonder what it means.
I agree about the value, but I like how the cast shadow from the top layer helps it pop out.
Neat piece Sarah. I really like how you are applying objects like the buttons... makes me think of the constellations traced in the sky like it was the string through the buttons. Your pieces always get me to thinking...
