Here are two little oil paintings I did recently. I've been trying to do a little painting everyday just for fun. The bottom one is the real color....the top one should look more like the bottom (color-wise). I'm still learning with my scanner and with photoshop. I've been doing these paintings on black gesso after reading about it. It's fun because it makes the colors really vibrant.

Sarah, good for you for painting every day!! Hooray!! How big are these?
Black? Interesting, the color looks great,.. reminds me of the painter, Paul Gauguin..
I was thinking about bringing out the oils today, I am experimenting with some textures in this little painting/ study Im working on,.... and in comparison to the roughness of the acrylic against the wood grain I was thinking of oils.. But, I don't know much about oils.. only oil glazes... I was looking for my gloss medium to paint on top or in certain areas... anyway, I really like your painting... I'm trying to paint or sketch a little every day too...
These paintings are only 5x7, so they are pretty quick to do before I go into work. I think oils are great for painting on wood grains....lately I don't use much in my oil...I just kind of mix my colors before hand and lay the paint on really thickly...maybe just using a tiny bit of painter's medium.
Cool stuff... and a good routine. Have you ever seen those "painting a day" blogs?
good call Tyler - I found this one the other day, I thoought it was really interesting - such a good idea and a way to practice painting techniques and stuff without worrying about composition and subject matter and all that junk - http://cougarpeakaboo.blogspot.com/
Here's the painting-a-day blog that i was thinking of... http://duanekeiser.blogspot.com.
He was linked from the Cougar Peak blog. And here's a great article from about it....
