Merry Christmas, etc

Merry Christmas everyone! Here is my little drawing for Christmas. I didn't have as much time to do one as I had liked, so I did a little ink drawing of a tree outside my apartment.

I hope you all have a wonderful holiday :)

HELP!

Hey everyone,
I decided to make Christmas ornaments for my family this year. But stupid me, I painted them with oil paint, and they're taking super long to dry. Please, please, does anyone have any suggestions for forcing these to dry quickly by...say...tomorrow or friday???? Thanks!

Holiday Illustration

I always have a difficult time thinking of ideas for a Christmas illustration, especially anything narrative or symbolic that isn't trite. So, here's just a fun image. Unfortunately, it didn't reproduce incredibly well in the scan (note how the left side got washed out). I need to look into photographing my artwork. Mixed media on cardboard.

Question

Anyone remember the name of that female artist who, according to Brent, "wasn't that great but slept her way to the top"? I've been looking in my notes for that name and I don't think I ever wrote it down.

Maupassant's The Hand

Illustration of Maupassant's short story The Hand. I'm not really that excited about what I ended up with but here it is. When I thought I was done, I didn't like it and I worked on it some more. I think I'd like to revisit this when i get some better ideas for content and composition.

The top-most image is the final. Mixed media on cardboard.

Editorial assignment

with text:

This assignment was an editorial assignment. I chose the topic of pharmaceutical companies giving doctors incentives such as vacations, dinners, gifts, and other perks to hopefully encourage doctors to prescribe their products. The image is Mary Poppins giving a 'spoonful of sugar' to the doctor but passing on the medicine as well.

Also! I saw Brent, John, and George the other night at a presentation they gave on the illustration academy. In the presentation there were several examples from our year so congratulations!

Sunflowers

Here are the two sunflower shadow boxes I just finished. I actually really enjoyed painting these flowers, which was unexpected. It really gives you freedom to mess with paint. I also have really enjoyed working with the wood to make the boxes themselves.... though it's pretty hard for me still, I don't know what I'm doing most of the time.

I'm extending the deadline for the Holiday piece. I hope we can all get something done in time for Christmas! It's December already... crazy.
