New year New things

Hey all.

I just accepted a job offer in Chapel Hill. I feel excellent about it. I will be closer to my family and my mom and this job holds great opportunities for me. Possible illustration too. One of my first projects would be promoting exhibitions at an art museum downtown. I have been wondering what the next new thing for me is and you just know when it happens. I am going to emerge myself in painting so count me in on upcoming assignments. I hope to sell my art around Chapel Hill.

Anyway, one of my favorite things to do is check the blog out and see what all you talented peeps have posted lately. It is a big new years resolution to get serious about illustration so I will need things like this blog to keep my chin up and a paintbrush or ink pen in my hand...

Yeah... the change I was waiting for!

and for chris:

Here are some skechbook pages from my xmas break:

"every hair on the dog"

This was the last assignment before xmas break, I didn't have time to post before I left for home. We had to find a high resolution image of an animal and render it in fine detail. It's about 9'' x 4'' in acrylic paint.

Apple Computer

How about that Macworld Keynote address?

My iMac G5 totally ate it the other day and I just got it back from the Apple Store tonight....it got a new power supply, logic board, and hard drive, and they transfered all my data to the new drive. If I didn't have the AppleCare protection plan it would have cost about $1,300, according to their print out. ...but I did/do and it was at no charge. Always get the AppleCare protection plan.

Just thought I would share that with you all.

Happy Holidays from Toledo

Hey Everyone,

Sorry it's been awhile between posts . . . OK, OK, it's been a couple months . . . work's been insane. I've been working lots of overtime and weekends, so there's been little time for life outside of Root. I've also fallen behind big time on my art, even my sketchbook is suffering, which has made me feel like a slacker, though I have done some company portraits in Photoshop (I've included my latest). My major project has been to work on a book proposal that we're submiting to several publishing companies, so that's been lots of fun and I've learned a lot about publishing.
Thankfully, New York is coming up (so exciting!!!!) and I just ordered a HUGE Vuillard book on Amazon. Hopefully, those will get me back in the art/painting/sketching groove. I really miss you guys!

Happy New Year!

Here is some of the stuff I have been up to....

Marathon man, commissioned by a Team In Training friend for her boyfriend who is a coach. She gave it to him for Christmas.

My second editorial assignment for Louisville Magazine for an article about how you can include your mom and mom-to-be in your wedding planning.

This is one of my school assignments for my color theory class, which is over and I got an A! Yay!

In other news, I am sick of being a poor starving artist so I am applying for "real jobs" around town. It's gotten to the point that I'm working 40+ hours a week at my 2 part time jobs to try to make ends meet, but it just isn't cutting it. I just have to realize that I will have to be extra tenacious about working at night and on the weekends. Plus, I'm taking 2 classes next semester so that will keep me arting too.

Note the new assignment... I hope to see a lot of people do it, myself included :) What have you all been up to? Sarah, how did your ornaments turn out? Chris, any word with the Burbank job? I miss all of you and hopefully I'll see you in New York in a few months!
